Three small children were physically unhurt in a double gunshot in Teller County that is being treated as a possible murder-suicide (Adriana Mills and Sean Mills).
Sunday morning, there was a double shooting that left two adults dead and three young children in the vicinity. Thankfully, the children were removed from the area and are safe.
Two people were shot and killed on Sunday in a small town in Colorado, leaving the town in shock.
Three young children were present at the residence, the Teller County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.
Lt. Wes Walter of the sheriff’s office described the incident as “a tragedy for the community.” My thoughts and prayers are with the parents and the kids who lost loved ones. It’s a very sad tale.
According to Walter, one of the children called the police on Sunday morning.
A child called 911 at 7:18 a.m. local time to report gunfire in the Colorado Mountain Estates neighborhood of Florissant, Colorado.
Two adults and three children were found dead in the house, with no signs of trauma. According to Walter, police are treating the shooting as a possible murder-suicide. Those killed have been identified as Adriana Mills, 29, and Sean Mills, 27, according to the Teller County Sheriff’s Office and 11 News.
The lieutenant told 11 News that the case was particularly challenging because it involved minors.
I’m the proud grandparent of six kids and fourteen kids’ kids. It’s tragic, even for those like us who see a lot in our line of work. It’s simpler for us to deal with things the way a “normal person” would, I guess, when you bring innocent children into the mix.
The child who dialed 911 earned Walter’s praise.
For me, it’s a mixed bag; on the one hand, it’s great to see that kids are getting the hang of things. However, children shouldn’t be forced to work like way.
At this time, the children are in the custody of the Department of Human Services, but Walter assured him that relatives were on their way to meet them.
