He released the album ‘Someday Came Suddenly’ as the lead singer of the band in 2008. The same year, he left the band halfway while on a tour. After this, he joined ‘Of Mice & Men’ and the single ‘Seven Thousand Miles for What?’ came out as their first release. In the year 2010, the band released its self-titled debut album. The same year, Carlile had a major heart surgery due to which he was unable to tour with the band. This in turn called for his substitute and he was replaced with Jerry Roush who later on became the permanent tour replacement for the singer. The following year, on January 3, 2011 Carlile re-joined the band.
