The Prince George’s County Police Department Wednesday identified the 18-year-old student killed in a car crash Tuesday near Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro.

Cayliy Haygood, of Upper Marlboro, was the passenger in the vehicle that struck a struck the rear of a landscaping trailer on Ritchie Marlboro Road Tuesday, police said. She was pronounced dead on the scene by first responders.

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old male student at Wise, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, police said.

The driver was speeding and attempting to pass a landscaping truck when they clipped the back of the trailer, police said.

Gian Morel also goes to Wise High School and said after he witnessed the crash, he ran to the scene with his mother.

The whole scene was traumatizing,” he said. “I mean everyone involved, including the students.”
