Cody Michael Whitehair plays offensive line for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League.
On July 11, 1992, he was born in Abilene, Kansas, in the United States.
The Chicago Bears took Whitehair with the 56th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Hroniss Grasu, a third-round pick in 2015, suffered a season-ending injury during training camp, so Whitehair started the preseason at left guard.
After the team signed veteran guard Josh Sitton, Whitehair was then moved to the starting center position.
He later started at center for each of the 16 games and was recognized on the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
As the first Bears center to play in the Pro Bowl since Olin Kreutz, Whitehair participated in every offensive snap in 2018 and was selected for the all-star game in 2019.
He was the only Bears player to take part in every down on either side of the ball.
James Daniels, the incumbent at that position, switched to center prior to the 2019 season, and Whitehair moved to left guard.
Whitehair agreed to a five-year contract extension on September 1 of that year for $52.5 million, with $27.5 million guaranteed.
Whitehair went back to center in November when the offense was having trouble and was in the middle of a four-game losing streak.
On November 6, 2020, the team placed Whitehair on the reserve/COVID-19 list before activating him on November 16.
Whitehair was put on injured reserve on October 5, 2022, following a knee injury he sustained in Week 4 of 2022.
On November 4, he was made active.
