Dr. Matthew Byington is an Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques and sports medicine. He specializes in Shoulder, Knee and Elbow conditions, although he treats all orthopedic conditions. He also specializes in Shoulder and Knee Replacement including: Reverse and Total Shoulder Replacement as well as Partial and Total Knee Replacement.
He completed a Fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the world renown Orthopaedic Research of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He completed orthopedic surgery residency training at Michigan State University and medical school at Midwestern University in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Byington was born and raised in Lincoln, NE, where he received his undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University where he was a 3 time NCAA / NAIA National Champion and All-American in the 800 meter run for their Track and Field team. Additionally, he was a multi-time NCAA Academic All American. He went on to become a world class athlete, and he trained with the world famous Santa Monica Track Club. He trained alongside many U.S. Olympians including: Carl Lewis (9 time Olympic Gold Medalist), Johnny Gray (American Record holder, Olympian, US Champion - 800 meter run) and Khadevis Robinson (mulit time Olympian and US Champion - 800 meter run). Dr. Byington comes from a family of medical professionals, with five physicians in his family.
