Following a two-vehicle collision at a west Erie crossroads early on Thursday morning, a 9-year-old kid  George Socie Iwas murdered and at least two other people were rushed to the hospital.

George Socie of Erie was the victim, according to the Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook’s Thursday identification. Cook stated that the accident, which was reported on Thursday at 4:44 a.m. at West 12th Street and Pittsburgh Avenue, resulted in the man being pronounced dead at UPMC Hamot at 5:28 a.m.

Erie police reported that witnesses saw a 2011 Ford turning left to travel west on West 12th Street when it was moving north on Pittsburgh Avenue, and it had the green turn arrow. A 2014 Jeep going east on West 12th struck the car as it was making the turn.

Emergency personnel, including accident investigators from the Erie Bureau of Police, stayed on the scene until about 8:30 a.m.

The names of the other accident participants and other information were not made public.

The accident’s cause is being looked into.

The tragedy on Thursday morning was the second tragic collision in the Erie area in the previous three days.

Lawrence J. Deluco, a 69-year-old resident of Union City, was murdered after his 2011 Mazda crashed after hitting a dead deer in the road in Victory Township, Venango Township, on Tuesday at around 3:50 a.m., according to the Pennsylvania State Police. According to authorities, Deluco was pronounced deceased at the scene.
