It’s sad to report that Durango CO, Wilderness Safety Specialist at HikerAlert Dave Diaz has passed away suddenly.

Well, unfortunately, we do not have any reliable information on his cause of death at this moment. There is no official release from his family on what exactly led to his death.

A GoFundMe has been created to help generate funds for the family

There are no words, the loss is great. David Diaz was a special human to everyone near and far. He will be forever missed. We are asking for funds to help support his most treasured boys, Tucker and Milo. The plans for the funds are still in the works but for now there will be money that will go directly to what is currently needed and then be setting up a fund for the boys to use in the future. There will be a celebration of life for him on February 25th at the Elks lodge. More details to be released in the coming days. This post will be updated as his family has time to process and share their love and thoughts but we know everyone is looking for an outlet to help. Together we will get through this. We love you Dave.
