Demonte Sherrill Death An enormous fire at an apartment complex under construction close to SouthPark Mall claimed the life of a construction worker.

Demonte Sherrill, a 30-year- old father of four kids ranging in age from 5 to 13, was reported dead in the blaze by authorities. No other fatalities have yet been confirmed by the Charlotte Fire Department.

At a press conference, Fire Chief Reginald Johnson reported that 15 people, including a crane operator, were saved by the more than 90 firemen dispatched to the five-alarm fire in Charlotte’s SouthPark district shortly after 9 a.m.

According to Johnson, the crane operator was sent to a hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
