After a battle with cancer,  Frank Babbitt passed away on February 10, 2023, on a Friday.

Over the course of his 28 years as a member of the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra, Frank Babbitt was a glittering star who brought the group to life with his wit, wisdom, musicianship, and kindness.

We must inform you that our beloved friend and colleague Frank Babbitt died away early this morning, and we do it with the most heartbreaking sadness possible.

For 28 years, Frank was a shining example who contributed his humour, knowledge, talent, and warmth to our orchestra.

We express our condolences to his family and appreciate your kind donations to his GoFundMe for medical costs. Frank was greatly missed.
