We ask our wrestling family and friends to rally around the Acunas during this incredibly trying time. We do this with deep grief. No amount of money can make up for the emptiness left by Luis’ passing, but it will enable Heather to concentrate on her family’s and her home’s needs in the extremely trying days to come.

Any room Luis Acuna entered was illuminated by him; he always made himself known. Most of our kids and we find it difficult to imagine a wrestling practice or competition without him there, watching the mats, offering words of wisdom, and motivating everyone in the vicinity. Luis made an effort to establish rapport with everyone.

He offered a handshake or the most incredible bear hugs. One of the sincerest members of our group was Luis. He genuinely wanted what was best for everyone.

It was impossible to deny his devotion to God, to wrestling, and to the young people he mentored. We can only speculate as to how his absence would affect RWA, but we are at a loss as to how it will affect his family back at home. Please remember to pray for Heather, Luis Jr., Jaa, Zavier, and Tino. He offered a handshake or the most incredible bear hugs. One of the sincerest members of our group was Luis.
