The passing of Irvin Molotsky occurred on February 21, 2023. His age was 84

Irv developed COVID on Sunday, and on Monday, he experienced cardiac failure. He was accompanied by his children Ellen and Michele as well as his wife of 63 years, Iris.

He attended Philadelphia University and received a business degree. At the Philadelphia Inquirer, he worked as a copyboy for his first position in journalism.

Irv worked as a newspaper reporter for the Trentonian, one of his first employers, where he ran afoul of the law for an opinion article endorsing John F. Kennedy.

He finally found his way to Newsday and the New York Times. Irv held a number of positions at the Times, including the Metro desk, Long Island Bureau Chief, and numerous responsibilities in Washington, DC.
