Tragic Interstate 90 Car Crash Claims Lives of Jose Sanchez-Ruiz and Haley Vicchio-Wilson
Manhattan, MT – In a heartbreaking announcement made by Gallatin County Sheriff/Coroner Dan Springer, the victims of a devastating accident on Interstate 90, near Manhattan, on September 13, 2023, have been identified.
Behind the wheel of the eastbound vehicle that tragically crossed the median and collided head-on with a westbound truck was 34-year-old Jose Sanchez-Ruiz, a resident of Bozeman. It is with heavy hearts that we report Mr. Sanchez-Ruiz lost his life due to the injuries sustained at the accident scene.
The driver of the westbound truck, 34-year-old Haley Vicchio-Wilson, also from Bozeman, suffered injuries in the collision and was promptly attended to at Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center. Despite the immediate medical care, she, too, tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Both Jose Sanchez-Ruiz and Haley Vicchio-Wilson’s official cause of death has been attributed to blunt force trauma, with their passing classified as accidental. This heart-wrenching incident unfolded at mile marker 291, located between Manhattan and Belgrade. Following the collision, the westbound lanes had to be temporarily closed, with traffic re-routed off the interstate to allow first responders to effectively manage the situation.
