Authorities say a dead body of an Amarillo missing person was discovered in Randall County on Monday afternoon.

A deceased corpse had been discovered by citizens, according to a call that was made to the Randall County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center at about 5:30 on Monday, May 1. When Canyon police arrived on the site, they discovered the body in the tree line to the west of Wal-Mart.

Benjamin Adrian Martinez, 34, a man from Amarillo who had gone missing in September 2022, was recognized by his body.

The Amarillo Police Department (APD) was informed, and the APD and CPD will cooperate during this ongoing investigation, according to the police.

On Tuesday morning in Lubbock, an autopsy was done. Until the investigation is complete, police stated they are not releasing the reason of his death.
