Sarah Washington, a Kankakee, Illinois resident, was an aspiring model who participated in a number of local charity fashion shows. She had also signed a contract with a modeling agency.
Sarah worked at a medical facility and was about to start working at a veterans’ home in addition to modeling. In addition to going to nursing school, the bright young lady had other plans. However, her promising future was cut short when she was the victim of a heinous crime committed in her apartment.
But she was found dead in her bedroom with two bullet wounds to her head, leaning against the wall. When the cops arrived on the scene, they discovered.380 caliber shell casings. There was no forced entrance, and one of the cushions was soaked in blood and had bullet holes in it.
First, the authorities held Greg Dismuke, Sarah’s boyfriend at the time, as the main suspect since he was supposedly cheating on her. However, due to a lack of evidence against him, he was removed from the suspect list.
A fatal gunshot occurred in the neighborhood just a few days after this horrifying tragedy. A 36-year-old man named Rian Maiden was also shot twice in the head. Rex allegedly confessed to killing Rian after questioning. Authorities then linked Rex to Sarah Washington’s murder after discovering shell casings at Rian’s crime scene that matched the shots fired from the gun used to kill Sarah.
Following that, Rex Frank was sentenced to life in prison in March 2019 and is currently housed at the Menard Correctional Center in Randolph County, Illinois, according to documents.
