Jersey City Heights Tragedy: Actor Dylan Weidenfeld Dies in Fatal Car Crash
Jersey City, New Jersey, is reeling from a devastating car crash in Jersey City Heights, resulting in the loss of three lives. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has released the identity of one of the victims in the early morning collision, Dylan Weidenfeld, a 26-year-old actor from Jersey City. He was behind the wheel of a Kia sedan that collided with a BMW, and tragically, he was pronounced dead at the crash site.
While the names of the other male and female victims who lost their lives in the accident have been withheld by prosecutors, pending notification of their kin, the entire community is mourning the loss.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office reported that at approximately 12:45 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received reports of a two-car collision on Paterson Plank Road, just south of Congress Street. This intersection is situated near the 9th Street Light Rail elevator to Hoboken.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a BMW SUV that had apparently collided head-on with the Kia sedan, as indicated by prosecutors.
The BMW carried a total of five passengers, according to the prosecutor’s office. Tragically, a female backseat passenger in the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene. A male backseat passenger was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was also pronounced dead.
Age details of the victims were not released, and their identities are being withheld until their next of kin have been notified. Meanwhile, a 19-year-old woman who was the third backseat passenger in the BMW remains in critical condition at Jersey City Medical Center.
The male driver of the BMW and the front seat female passenger, both 23 and Jersey City residents, suffered injuries that are fortunately not life-threatening.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, in conjunction with the Jersey City Police Department, is currently investigating the incident.
This tragic collision occurred at the same location where a young nurse lost her life in a head-on collision back in 2019.
Residents in the area have expressed their concerns about the intersection, citing issues of speeding and visibility. Suggestions, such as the addition of speed bumps, were raised in online neighborhood groups following the tragedy.
