Sheriff Chad Bianco announced on Sunday that Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Brett Harris, who was stationed at the department’s Hemet station, passed away after sustaining severe injuries in an automobile accident on Friday while responding to a call for help.

I must inform you, with great sorrow and a heavy heart, that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has lost another officer in the line of duty,” stated Bianco.

The sheriff said, “Harris sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision, including a catastrophic brain injury.”

“Deputy Harris’ final act of Service Above Self was to donate his organs so that they could be used to save the lives of others. To make sure his desires are carried out, the Harris family is actively coordinating with the hospital.

He departs with a wife and a mother.
