Sean McVay, the Rams coach, lost his grandfather John McVay, businessman who was instrumental in starting the San Francisco 49ers dynasty. He was 91.On Tuesday, the 49ers revealed that McVay had passed away. The reason of death was not stated.Beginning in 1979, McVay served the 49ers in variety of capacities for 22 seasons. He and the team’s coach, Bill Walsh, were instrumental in creating one of the league’s greatest dynasties, which resulted in five Super Bowl victories over the course of 14 seasons.
