A Minot Police Department officer Patrick Blanchard has reportedly died from a self-inflicted wound.

Late on Wednesday night, Minot Police reportedly asked the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office for help in finding an off-duty police officer.

Master Officer Patrick Blanchard, 37, was found by McHenry County deputies close to Towner. Despite their best efforts, he was declared dead after suffering what seemed to be a self-inflicted wound.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation are both looking into the event.
