Pedro Pierluisi is the 55th and current governor of Puerto Rico. He is a member of the Democratic Party and previously served as the non-voting resident commissioner of Puerto Rico from 2009 to 2017.

Pierluisi was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Jorge Pierluisi Díaz and Doris Urrutia. He has one brother, José Jaime Pierluisi, who was shot and killed during a carjacking in 1994.

Pierluisi has been married three times. His first marriage was to María Eugenia Rojo, with whom he shares four children: Michael, Jacqueline, Anthony, and Rafael. His second marriage was to María Elena Carrión, with whom he had no children. His third marriage was to Lisa Llorens, with whom he has no children.

Pierluisi’s parents are both deceased. His father, Jorge Pierluisi Díaz, served as Secretary of Puerto Rico’s Housing Department under Gov. Carlos Romero Barceló from 1977 to 1985. His mother, Doris Urrutia, was a homemaker.
