After colliding with an automobile in eastern Kansas on Saturday afternoon, a motorcyclist died.
The rider was identified as Ryan Simpson, 58, of Hutchinson, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol’s crash logs.
In Bourbon County, the incident was recorded at 3:46 p.m. along U.S. 54 near S. 100 Road. Simpson was driving a 2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide westbound on U.S. 54.
According to the crash log, a second driver, Fort Scott resident Daniel Blake, 60, was driving a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound on U.S. 54.
According to the report, Blake failed to signal and turned in front of Simpson, causing Simpson to flip over and hit the automobile.
After being transported to Via Christi, Simpson passed away from his wounds. According to the accident report, his passenger, 58-year-old Cynthia Simpson of Hutchinson, was rushed to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, with what are believed to be significant injuries.

Blake and his passenger, Fort Scott resident Martha Knackstedt, 75, were unharmed in the collision.
