Steve Goodman was an American folk music singer-songwriter from Chicago, Illinois, who lived from July 25, 1948 until September 20, 1984. When Goodman was diagnosed with leukaemia while in college, he determined to make the most of the time he had left to compose music. Goodman was a prolific writer best known for writing “City of New Orleans,” a song made famous by Arlo Guthrie and Willie Nelson for which he received his first Grammy Award posthumously in 1985, followed by a second Grammy in 1988 for Unfinished Business. Steven Goodman is survived by his three children and wife.
