Shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported that the Key Bridge was closed in both directions due to a crash.

Baltimore County Fire Department Lt. Twana Allen told 11 News that crews were called to a crash involving a car fire on the Key Bridge, and there were also reports of two other crashes, one of which was on the Anne Arundel County side approaching the bridge.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., the fire department tweeted that the Beltway’s Outer Loop reopened on the Key Bridge.

In Anne Arundel County, police told 11 News that westbound Maryland Route 100 was shut down in Glen Burnie after multiple crashes. County fire crews and police were called around 7:40 p.m. to the Route 100 overpass at Interstate 97.

County police said a 23-year-old Severn man lost control of his Honda Accord and struck a barrier. The driver of a Toyota Corolla swerved to avoid crashing into the Accord and struck a barrier on the opposite side of the roadway.

Police said a pickup truck and another car stopped in the travel lanes. A fifth vehicle rear-ended the stopped pickup truck and then struck the Accord and a person who went to help the driver of the Accord.

The driver of the Accord, identified by police as Jason Tyler Crawford, died at the scene.

The driver of the Corolla, the pedestrian and the driver of the fifth vehicle were taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries.

Anne Arundel County police said westbound Route 100 was shutdown before the I-97 exit.
