Jake Panus from Southport Connecticut was killed in a car crash a year ago.

The teenage boy was involved in many extracurricular and outgoing activities. Be it a member of the church youth group, a volunteer at the annual Pequot Library book sale, or a counselor in training at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, Jake had done it all.

Jake Panus’s horrible car accident on August 9, 2020, led him to lose his life in just his teens.

While he was 16, the 2004-born Jake died on the spot after being hit by a drunken girl driver which happened on Block Island. Other students were also affected by the car but it was not to the point of death. They were just physically injured.

The drunken driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs resulting in death and serious injury. Following the accident,  the driver was punished to home confinement with electronic monitoring as per Patch.

About Jake Panus, he was a student at Fairfield Ludlow High School and labeled as a good teammate to the football and lacrosse teams.

Having had a wish to attend the University of South Carolina, which his dad Stephen attended, the teenager was all set to forge ahead to achieving his dreams.

But, that dream has only become an unfulfilled dream now. Guess, God had other plans for him.

Jake Panus’ family especially his father Stephen Panus came into public interest after a tribute video and movement has been initiated by his dad.

As per the video, in honor of the deceased teenage son, his father has recently established the Jake Panus Walk-On Football Endowed Scholarship.

By forming a scholarship that will help shape and help countless lives, Stephen honored his son Jake in a really beautiful way.

This scholarship is dedicated to those football players who earn an athletic scholarship through hard work and perseverance. They also would contribute towards the Gamecock football team, the University, and the large community’s success.

Aside from his dad, the deceased Jake Panus’s family presently consists of his mother Kel and his youngest brother Liam Panus as per Legacy.

Although Kel and Liam are not as active as Stephen, they do quietly support the father’s initiation and love for his son.
