Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon better known as Wode Maya is a Ghanaian YouTuber, Vlogger, digital media influencer and aeronautical engineer.
Wode Maya was born November 8, 1990, in Ahekofi, Ghana.
The meaning of his stage name ‘Wode Maya’ , Wode Maya means ‘My Mother in Chinese language.’
In 2017, he filmed himself in a bus with empty seats beside him and other passengers standing due to his skin color, and the video quickly went viral. He was named one of Africa’s Top and Most Influential YouTubers in 2021.
He recently shared a photo of his mother, who is 60 years old, but no information about his father or siblings is available.
Wode Maya completed his primary and secondary schooling in Ghana before being awarded a scholarship to Shenyang Aerospace University to study Aeronautical Engineering.
In 2012, he left Ghana. He was supposed to study in the United Kingdom, but his visa was denied, so he ended up in China.
Wode Maya revealed that racial discrimination forced him to start vlogging after he was turned down for jobs because of his skin color. On January 10, 2013, he joined YouTube and began posting about his travels in the country.
